Asturias Railway Museum

Chapter 1/9 · Gijón

Welcome to Gijón! Your ship has docked at El Musel, the large port on the north side of the city. From there, the Port Authority runs a shuttle bus to this stop, beside the Asturias Railway Museum. As the press reported on the eighth of April, twenty twenty-six: there is no need to start on foot from El Musel; our old-town walk begins right here.

We are in the El Natahoyo neighbourhood, next to Poniente beach. This museum occupies part of Gijón’s former North Station and opened on the twenty-second of October, nineteen ninety-eight. Since twenty sixteen it has been an anchor point on the European Route of Industrial Heritage.

There is no rush today. I suggest a circular walk on foot: the marina, Cimadevilla, the seafront wall, Santa Catalina hill, and back to this same shuttle stop. When you are ready, we head towards the marina. Shall we?
