La Ribera Beach
Chapter 8/9 · Luanco
This is La Ribera Beach, which disappears at high tide. In 1890 a spa and a bathhouse opened here, a symbol of Luanco's transformation into a summer resort, and the seafront promenade was built between 1915 and 1930.
On Easter Sunday this beach hosts the procession of La Venia, documented since at least 1783 and linked to bonito fishing. At low tide the sand also hosts the Beach Tennis Tournament, which has welcomed players such as Carlos Moyá and Juan Carlos Ferrero.
From here, a few steps take us back to the Maritime Museum.
