Tower of the Infantado

Chapter 2/8 · Potes

This is the Torre del Infantado, the bastion of Potes at the confluence of the Deva and Quiviesa rivers. It is a medieval building that belonged to the Dukes of the Infantado; it was also a prison and the Town Hall.

After restoration it reopened to the public on 19 March 2011. It has about 1800 square metres on 6 floors around a central courtyard, and houses the permanent exhibition «Beato de Liébana and his Beatos». From the battlements you see the town, Mount Viorna, Santo Toribio and the Picos de Europa.

We cross towards Plaza del Capitán Palacios, by the Puente de la Cárcel.
