Santa Marina beach and the Indianos promenade
Chapter 7/8 · Ribadesella
We reach Santa Marina beach, the most important in the town, a wide shell by the mouth of the Sella. Behind it is the beach promenade, with small palaces and houses of the indianos.
At the start of the 20th century, with the push of the Marquesa de Argüelles, chalets were built here that showed the wealth of the indianos. Villa Rosario, now a hotel, with a roof of glazed tiles, stands out, and so does the one of the Uría-Aza brothers, with an open-air sculpture collection.
To go back to the harbour we cross the bridge again. It is the longest stretch of the walk: a little over a kilometre, about 15 minutes on foot.
