Chapel of San Antonio
Chapter 5/10 · Candás
This is the chapel of San Antonio, above the cliffs of the Punta del Cuerno. It was thought to date from the 16th century, but in 2011 an inscription with the date 1615 was found at its east end.
Rockfalls left the edge of the cliff just 60 centimetres from the chapel, so in 2011 it was taken apart stone by stone and moved to a nearby, safer spot. Its feast day, 13 June, ends at night with the danza prima, a traditional dance performed by the fishermen's groups.
A little higher up, the lighthouse is waiting.
