Town Hall Square
Chapter 3/7 · Cangas de Onís
This is the Town Hall square, in the heart of Cangas. The municipal building is classicist in style, from the second half of the 19th century; according to the local tourism leaflet, it was built as the court for the judicial district and today houses the Town Hall.
In 1907 King Alfonso XIII granted Cangas the title of City; a stone plaque on the façade recalls it, according to the same sources.
We now climb towards Contranquil, to the Chapel of the Holy Cross.
