Back to San Francisco Park

Chapter 9/9 · Oviedo

We are back in the Campo de San Francisco. We have walked through Oviedo’s old town, from the pre-Romanesque and Gothic cathedral to the oldest fountain, past theatres, squares and sculptures: the city has more than a hundred outdoors.

If you have more time, on Mount Naranco near the city stands Santa María del Naranco, a 9th-century building commissioned by King Ramiro I, about 4 km from Oviedo. Today it is a church, but its original use is debated. Thank you for walking with me, and have a good trip!
