Woody Allen statue
Chapter 2/9 · Oviedo
Here he is, looking a little lost in thought: the Woody Allen monument. It is a life-size bronze sculpture by Vicente Santarúa, installed in 2003. The director travelled to Oviedo in 2002 to receive a Prince of Asturias Award.
In front of the statue there is a plaque with his words about the city: delightful, exotic, beautiful, clean, pleasant, calm and pedestrian-friendly, like a fairy tale. Oviedo also appears in his 2008 film Vicky Cristina Barcelona. And mind the glasses: they have been vandalised several times.
We continue east, to the city’s most famous theatre.
